On the afternoon of May 13, 2026, the Greek-flagged passenger/vehicle ferry Anassa M and the Cyprus-flagged passenger/vehicle ferry Protoporos VI were involved in an allision at the port of Thasos, Greece. The incident resulted in structural damage to both vessels. Operational protocols dictated that passengers on the affected ferries be transferred to alternate vessels to ensure completion of their transit. The Port Department of Thasos, operating under the Kavala Central Port Authority, initiated an investigation and implemented a temporary suspension of sailing operations for both ships. Following successful inspections and the issuance of new seaworthiness certificates by their respective classification societies, the ferries were authorized to resume service. No injuries were reported, and there was no evidence of environmental pollution
