June 3, 2026, Iran announced it had attacked the Liberia-flagged container ship MSC Panaya while it was moored at the Khalifa Bin Salman port in Bahrain. The vessel, which had arrived in Hidd, Bahrain, on June 1, 2026, was described by the Iranian Tasnim News Agency as belonging to the "American Zionist" enemy—a term frequently applied by Iranian state-aligned media to vessels operated by MSC. Iranian officials stated the attack was part of an ongoing response to recent U.S. strikes at Qeshm and the use of a Hellfire missile to disable a tanker bound for Kharg Island. No injuries or pollution were reported.
