On the afternoon of April 12, 2026, four stowaways were discovered and removed from the container ship MSC Esha III while it was in the IJmuiden lock complex. The vessel was in transit from London Gateway Port to Amsterdam. The presence of the unauthorized individuals was detected by the shipping company, which subsequently notified the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee. The men were removed from the vessel and transferred to local authorities to undergo the immigration process. No injuries or pollution were reported.
