On the afternoon of June 10, 2026, a significant security operation was initiated at the Ostsee Quay in the Port of Kiel following a bomb scare involving a delivery intended for the cruise ship Mein Schiff Relax.
Incident Details: During a routine security check of a truck delivery, authorities identified suspicious pallets that triggered an initial positive reading for traces of explosives. The terminal and sections of the cruise ship were evacuated, and a security cordon was established around the area. Passengers already on board were required to relocate to the starboard side as a precautionary measure, and the boarding process was suspended.
Assessment: An explosive ordnance disposal team was deployed to examine the cargo. Within a few hours, it was determined that the pallets contained ship spare parts, specifically coils of wire.
