Live tracking and data notes

The live ship tracker on this page provides a map-based AIS view for ACHELOOS through the configured external tracking provider. On July 19–20, 2026, two oil tankers managed by Greece-based Dynacom Tankers were struck by projectiles while transiting the US-facilitated southern shipping corridor near the Strait of Hormuz off the coast of Oman.

Kavomaleas: The Malta-flagged oil products tanker was struck by two projectiles approximately 8 nautical miles off Kumzar, Oman, resulting in an engine room fire. Following the activation of shipboard fire suppression systems, the master ordered an evacuation. All crew members abandoned ship into lifeboats and were safely recovered by Omani authorities and transferred ashore. The vessel remained on fire. No marine pollution was reported.

Acheloos: The newly built Liberia-flagged VLCC was struck in a simultaneous incident along the same corridor. The vessel sustained material damage, but all crew members were reported safe and accounted for. The Acheloos proceeded to a designated anchorage for technical and structural assessment. No pollution or environmental damage was reported.

Regional Context: The attacks occurred amid intensifying hostilities, marking the ninth consecutive night of U.S. strikes on Iranian infrastructure and retaliatory Iranian actions. Iran’s Revolutionary Guards asserted that vessels utilizing the U.S.-backed transit route were navigating "unsafe routes" and would face consequences.
