On May 21, 2026, at approximately 03:00 local time, the Dutch-registered fishing trawler Stella Polaris and the German-flagged container ship Singapore Express were involved in a collision in the North Sea, north of Terschelling, Netherlands. The incident occurred while the 400-meter container ship was transiting from Rotterdam, Netherlands, to Hamburg, Germany, and the trawler was actively fishing. The impact caused severe structural damage to the trawler, specifically destroying its wheelhouse, though the vessel remained afloat. One crew member aboard the Stella Polaris sustained minor injuries; no injuries were reported among the crew of the Singapore Express. Following the collision, the trawler was escorted and subsequently towed to Harlingen, Netherlands, for damage assessment and repairs.
