Cruise Ships – Fleets, Vessel Data & Ship Tracking

Ship-Tracker.org organizes cruise ship information around structured vessel records. Where available, the IMO number is used as the primary permanent vessel identifier, while MMSI and call sign information provide additional maritime identification.

Cruise ships may change names, operators, flags or radio identifiers during their service life. Historical and renamed vessels are therefore treated separately from current fleet records whenever appropriate.

Public cruise ship tracking commonly relies on AIS, the Automatic Identification System. AIS can transmit vessel identity, position, course and speed when a ship is transmitting and the signal is received by a terrestrial or satellite network.

Position availability varies by location, reception coverage and the data source used on the individual vessel page. A displayed position may therefore represent the last publicly received location rather than the ship’s exact current position.

Large cruise companies may operate many vessels across different regions and markets. The cruise directory groups available ships by operator and links each current vessel record to the appropriate Ship-Tracker.org page.

Existing published vessel pages are preserved and used in preference to automatically generated records. Historical or renamed ships can be shown separately so that former identities are not confused with current fleet information.
